How Do I Restrict Access to Some Antidote Web Functions?

There are two ways to manage students’ access to Antidote Web’s tools and content:

• In general, for use throughout the school year, from the group permissions
• During evaluations, for a specific exam, using a custom URL paired with Safe Exam Browser (SEB)

The main advantage of conducting your exams with SEB is that it restricts the use of electronic resources, applications and websites, except the ones you enable. You can therefore grant students access to Antidote Web in exam mode and conduct evaluations in a fully controlled digital environment. This method complies with the regulatory requirements of the ministère de l’Éducation du Québec’s Direction de la sanction des études, among others.

What Is Exam Mode?

Antidote Web’s exam mode makes it easy to tell at a glance if students are using the permitted version. Enabling it changes the interface’s appearance. The colour scheme is different, and a banner clearly indicates that an exam is in progress. Restricted tools and content are greyed out in the banner on the left.

How Do I Set Up Antidote Web’s Exam Mode for SEB?

Usually, your school’s IT department will create a custom Antidote Web URL and set up SEB for you.

This process consists of creating a URL with parameters that correspond to the Antidote tools and content you want permitted. The URL is then added in SEB’s configuration tool or in an exam intended for SEB (e.g. the Moodle form).
